Indigenous & Black communities are in the front lines of all conservation work that protects our environment and Mother Earth. While many consider them activists, most community members consider their work a means of survival. Climate change is known to impact Black & Indigenous communities first—as they depend on their natural resources or live near polluting-generating sources that harm their overall wellbeing, health, and culture. At Piña Soul, we promote environmental sustainability and conservation among Black & Indigenous communities through the sale of our artesanias and consultation services. We directly support Black & Indigenous-led conservation and environmental projects through community mutual aids and micro-grants.
We fund three conservation areas:
1) Ocean Protection, 2) Water Management, & 3) Land Restoration.

Conservation
/ˌkänsərˈvāSH(ə)n/
Conservation is the protection and preservation of natural resources, species, and environment that result in positive outcomes for communities of color—who are the most impacted to environmental degradation as a result of environmental racism. These positive outcomes include;
1. The preservation of cultures,
2. Decreasing harmful impacts on communities' livelihoods & wellbeing, and
3. Uplifting marginalized voices in the environmental discourse & movement.
Conservation advocates for a just treatment of all living and nonliving things that play an important role in our way of life—also known as Indigenous principles (Hernandez, J., 2019).
